VICE ADMIRAL R B PANDIT, AVSM 
Vice Admiral RB Pandit was commissioned into the Indian Navy in Jul 1984.  He is an alumnus of National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla; Defence Services Staff College, Wellington; College of Naval Warfare, Mumbai and Royal College of Defence Studies, London. At NDA, he was awarded the Silver Medal for being adjudged 2nd in overall order of merit and Gold Medal for Best Naval Cadet. As a Midshipman, he was the recipient of the Sword of Honour and CNS Gold Medal.  At DSSC Wellington he was awarded the Thimayya Medal for being adjudged the Most Spirited Officer of the Naval Wing.  He has post graduate degrees in Defence Studies from the Madras University and in International Security and Strategy from King’s College, London.
The Flag Officer is an Anti Submarine Warfare Specialist.  He has served as ASWO onboard the Rajput class of ships. He has commanded missile corvette INS Nirghat, frigate INS Vindhyagiri and Landing Platform Dock INS Jalashwa.  He has also commanded the 22nd Missile Vessel Squadron at Mumbai.
He has held important staff appointments that include Fleet ASW Officer of the Eastern Fleet and the Principal Director Staff Requirement at IHQ, MoD(N).  He has served as Instructor at the Naval Academy, Goa; Directing Staff at the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington and Directing Staff at the College of Naval Warfare, Mumbai.  He has been the Indian Naval Advisor at the High Commission of India, Islamabad during Op Parakram.  On promotion to the Flag Rank he was appointed as Assistant Chief of Naval Staff (Foreign Co-operation and Intelligence) at IHQ, MoD(N); Chief of Staff, Southern Naval Command and Flag Officer Commanding Western Fleet.  The Flag Officer is a recipient of Ati Vishisht Seva Medal. On promotion to the rank of Vice Admiral the Flag Officer took over as the Commandant, Indian Naval Academy on 19 Feb 2018.
The Flag Officer is married to Mrs Priya Pandit and they have one daughter.
