MAJOR GENERAL SOMNATH JHA (RETD.) ON 12,000 KM CYCLING MISSION ARRIVES INA

Major General Somnath Jha (Retd.) VSM, who is on a 12,000 Km cycling mission across the length and breadth of the country as a tribute to all martyred heroes of the nation arrived at Indian Naval Academy (INA) today, Wednesday 08 February 2017.
He was received at INA by Rear Admiral MD Suresh NM, Deputy Commandant, INA and Commodore Kamlesh Kumar, Station Commander, Ezhimala. Major General Somnath Jha (Retd.) VSM, placed a wreath at ‘Prerna Sthal’ War memorial and observed two minutes silence.
The General, during his interaction with the cadets, serving naval personnel and defence civilian of the station reiterated that the decision to cycle 12,000 Km was a personal homage to over 20,600 fallen heroes who Major General Somnath Jha (Retd.) VSM, was formally briefed on the training process, training facilities at INA and was also taken around the training facilities. A formal dinner in honour of the visiting General hosted by the Depute Commandant INA is scheduled later in the evening.
Major General Somnath Jha (Retd.) VSM, would depart INA on Thursday, 09 February 2016 for his onward journey to Kanhangad, Kerala. He would be escorted and accompanied till Payyanur by enthusiastic cadets and naval personnel of the station.
