ISRAEL WINS ADMIRAL'S CUP

The tenth edition of ‘Admirals Cup’ Sailing Regatta (2019) concluded today, on Friday, 13 December 2019 with a glittering closing ceremony at Ettikulam Beach at Indian Naval Academy (INA), Ezhimala.  
Team Israel represented by Midshipman Itai Mordachi Schroit and Midshipman Ido Mazor won the Admiral's Cup 2019.  Team USA represented by Midshipman D Gray Benson and Midshipman Kelly Milliken was the Runners-Up and Team Singapore represented by 2nd Lieutenant Koh Yi Qian and 2nd Lieutenant Dillon How came third.   Midshipman Itai Mordachi Schroit from Israel stood first in the individual position in the men’s category followed by Cadet Gorkunov Petr from Russia and Midshipman Ido Mazor from Israel at second and third positions respectively. Midshipman Kelly Milliken from USA stood first in the individual position in women’s category followed by Midshipman Annabel Charlotte Vose  from UK and Midshipman Paula Kaminska  from Poland at second and third positions respectively.  Vice Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, AVSM, NM, Commandant, INA the chief guest for the closing ceremony presented the “Admiral’s Cup”, Runners Up trophy and  individual prizes to the winners. Israel and USA will carry home replicas of the Admiral's Cup and the Runners-Up trophy respectively
The Admiral’s Cup witnessed competitive sailing races in Laser Radials boats during race days scheduled from 10 to 13 December 2019. 54 participants, including 06 female participants displayed their sailing skills in the Laser Radials in challenging wind and weather conditions as they squeezed every knot out of their boats over the past four days of the races. The event has become very popular since its inception in 2010.
The tenth edition of Admiral’s Cup Sailing Regatta 2019, saw participation from 27 countries comprising
Australia, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Bulgaria, Egypt, Germany, Japan, Malaysia, Netherlands, Oman, Russia, South Africa, Sri Lanka, UK, USA, Vietnam, China, Poland, France, UAE, Singapore, Indonesia, Israel, Myanmar, Portugal and Nigeria including Indian teams from Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala and National Defence Academy, Khadakvasla.
During the last five days, the visiting foreign teams and accompanying officials were involved in various activities apart from competitive racing which included visit to training and sporting facilities located at Indian Naval Academy, archaeological and fitness trek to Mount Dilli and cultural package showcasing India's rich traditions, languages, culture, dance and art forms.
The event culminated in a grand finale with the closing ceremony held in the evening today, Friday 13 December 2019 at Ettikulam Beach at Indian Naval Academy (INA), Ezhimala. The participating teams will be departing INA tomorrow, 14 December 2019 having competed fiercely and hoping to be back for the eleventh edition of the ‘Admirals Cup’ Sailing Regatta in December 2020.
