TREE PLANTATION DRIVE HELD AT STATION EZHIMALA

The Naval station at Ezhimala has successfully planted 30,000 casuarina tree saplings over the last one year. The saplings were provided by the Kerala Forest Department free of cost under the social forestry program. This activity was undertaken as part of the Indian Navy’s afforestation drive, green initiatives and to compensate for trees cut during construction work. Local workers were utilised for planting the saplings through the MNREGA scheme, which provided an employment opportunity to the community whilst adhering to all safety protocols of COVID 19. The target of planting 30,000 saplings, conceived in Aug 19, along the beach stretch at INA was completed on 28 Sep 20, with the coordinated efforts of Indian Navy, Kerala Forest Department and local Ramanthali Panchayat.
