NOVICES TRAINING CAMP CONCLUDED AT INDIAN NAVAL ACADEMY

To inculcate esprit-de-corps, camaraderie, leadership qualities amongst the trainees under stressful conditions, a training camp ‘Rookie’ was conducted for Naval Orientation Course from 16 to 19 Dec 20 at Indian Naval Academy. Participation included 15 women trainees undergoing training. The camp activities comprised Route March, Endurance Run, Navigation Exercises, Seamanship evolutions, obstacle course, small arms firing, tent pitching, whaler rigging and raft punting in Kavvayi backwaters. The camp culminated with a challenging quadrathlon, which included a gruelling 10 km run through mountainous terrains of INA in full battle gear, followed by swimming, obstacle course and small arms firing. The four day camp witnessed highly spirited participation by all six squadrons of INA, and culminated with a camp fire. Vice Admiral M A Hampiholi, AVSM, NM, Commandant, INA awarded the camp trophy to Eagle squadron and congratulated the trainees for enthusiastic participation and successful completion of camp ‘Rookie’.
